Engine Control Module: Description and Operation

The ECU, located behind the passenger side instrument panel, converts sensor input data into digital signals to control output signals of the Motronic system. A fixed-value memory or ROM-IC is used to store the engines operational characteristics. An operating data memory or RAM stores delivered data until the processor requires the information or updates it.
