Component Inspection

Immerse temperature sensing part of Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)sensor in water (or ice) and measure resistance between sensor terminals while heating water gradually. If measured resistance doesn't show such characteristic as shown in the above image, replace ECT sensor.
