Engine Temperature Sensor

Sensor--mounted in the engine coolant stream--supplies a varying DC voltage to the ECM representing engine temperature.
- Sensor resistance is high when the engine is cold and low when the engine is warm.
The ECM controls temperature dependent systems accordingly.
