Distributor: Service and Repair

Removal

1. Disconnect high tension leads and vacuum tubes from distributor.
2. Disconnect couplers of primary wire and condenser lead from distributor.
3. Remove distributor locknut.
4. Pull distributor out of front cover.

Installation

1. Turn eccentric shaft until leading timing mark on eccentric shaft pulley aligns with indicator pin on front cover.
2. Align timing marks on distributor housing and driven gear.
3. Insert distributor so that distributor lock bolt is located in center of slit, and engage gears.
4. Rotate distributor housing until protrusion of signal rotor aligns with core of pickup coil, then tighten distributor hold-down bolt.
5. Install high tension leads and connect primary wire coupler.
6. Adjust ignition timing.
7. Connect vacuum tubes to vacuum control units.
